The Dead And The Dime

The Dead And The Dime

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Can anybody hear me?
I’m boxed inside this shell
And buried inside this hell
I try to scream
Bursting out of the seam
I’m called on to the field
Of colorful lights
Sparks ignite
And set way for a drama
Full of orange and red
Of agents and spies
And innocent cries
That maraud my eyes

It’s just within my eyes
They say I’m speaking lies
Death is for my crime
To speak of the dead and the dime

The board is set
The pieces are moving
The feet are all grooving
To the dance of the dead
Called right on time
For the rest of the world
Dressed in black
Sipping martini lime
To hear our cries
To hear their lies
To witness this crime
Of the dead and the dime
The dead and the dime
The dead and the dime
The dead and the dime
The dead and the dime

It’s just within my eyes
They say I’m speaking lies
Death is for my crime
To speak of the dead and the dime
