Jaded Vanity

Jaded Vanity

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Who am I?
No true reflection
Through a glass eye
Scarlet stained mirrors
Smeared in denial
Honestly a lie
All the while
I’m fighting to resist
A hollow feeling
That still keeps surfacing

Who am I?
Noticeably vain
Vexed on this sty
Looking for the prize
That will make me shine
Hopelessly I try
Warning sign
I’m devoid of all
Substance/meaning
Just a dead man walking

Who am I?
One under the sun
Laughing I cry
Luxurious life
Pure insanity
Wind, wait for me
You I strive
Slowly venturing
Into the hollow void
Known as jaded vanity
