Sandina

Sandina

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Previous Version
This is a previous version of Sandina.

Desert sun is blazing
In the fiery skies
Mouth is dry, hands are splitting
Heavy sands burn within my eyes
Don’t forget to cry
Sandina,
Oh, Sandina
(Crystal glaze in my eye)
Whisper me a lullaby

Out within the distance
Jackals dance the waves
Shimmering blue oasis
Empty barrels and broken staves
Why won’t you just die
Sandina,
Oh, Sandina
(Raging a desert cry)
Why won’t you go and die

My eyes have no real focus
My thoughts soon drift away
The two of us, girl, dance with freeness
To the subtle sound of the desert’s hymn today
Only in a lie
Sandina,
Oh, Sandina
(The ending time is nigh)
We only live a lie
