Dip Into The After Life

Dip Into The After Life

A Story by Maxine
"

This may be a funny story, this really did happen.

"

Drip Drip Drip

I feel exhaustion jumping around me

the odorless substance dripping around me

Drip Drip Drip

Sweat

I feel other people's heat rubbing against me

i've never seen them before and i doubt i ever will again

Is this normal?

It all felt like hyperspeed activities

i just wanted to keep going and going and...

The noise stopped

Music turned to silence

hardly any movement

i felt sick

inside and out

i couldn't breath

I was going to throw up on these people in my bubble

touching me in a safe, inappropriate manner

i alerted my only rescue, my love

and went out the swinging doors

Phew

"Air!"

I took a good long breath of the cool, midnight,

smoke, beer, pizza, sweaty underarms,

too much makeup and hairspray

infested air

and savored it like it was my last

The stench was unbearable

I glanced around, so many unfamiliar faces

i recognized one person, i doubt she remembers me

i knew her freshman year

oh well, i dont care

we weren't even friends anyway,

i ran to an open place to sit

time to regain nearly lost consciousness

I felt like everyone was watching me

"Its her first time"

Whatever, i took too much dayquill

because crazy texas weather gets me sick

i haven't eaten or drank anything

because im broke

you try jumping around

at your first concert

all sweaty, inhaling other people's sweat, and dirty carbon dioxide

having weird people touching you, leaping up and down

pushing and shoving,

while trying not to fall and die

Y  ou try to make sure you will survive this chaos

and hope that no one will fall from the sky

because they couldn't be held up

by all these useless hands in the air

I was ready to die

I was about to tell the girl next to me

who looked freaked out as well

to call 911

before she bcomes covered in all my vomit

and witnesses a horrible death

Than the swinging doors

that i had once come in and out of

flew open

I glanced back

eyes not able to fully focus

It was her

Maybe she was tired or she wanted to make sure i was ok

either way her presence shone like

extreme houses on christmas or an angel from the gates of heaven

dressed in all white

An angel describes her best

I was so glad to see her

she looked just as dazed, sweaty and exhausted as me

the strong self inside of me yelled to my body

"Suck it up!"

Don't let her see you weak and down

try to be cool

"You tired?"

"n o,you?"

"Psh...no...just a little lightheaded"

"Ready for more?"

"Umm...yeah..."

We got our fresh air and walked back in together

hand in hand

ready to jump into unlimited

insanity

I dont think i'll make it

this time
