Grief Happens

Grief Happens

A Poem by Randy Mckenica -writers write
"

These words overpowered me in their simplicity and emotion. Please forgive any style issues- this is all substance to me. ***** thought this was the best piece to replace first ******

"

Grief happens
And death is merely sad-
No epiphanies, merely sad

Emptiness creates eclipses
Beyond those any mirror box
Can protect
From the blindness
Of what is next.

Numbness transcends
Beyond where the
Uninitiated believe possible

Trying to feel again
As the struggle to supplant
the nothingless
of what matters
wrestles with
the ambivilence of
going on as if nothing,
and something, has happened

And now I am less than the caretaker
but more akin to the groundskeeper
of the familial remnants that slipped
One last time
between my fingers .

With the humblest of efforts
I will keep what I can
His voice may be fading
but the respect remains,
Yes,the respect remains

This was packed with emotion and rang so true. Excellent job on describing grief. It feels just like that.
