This time I'll fight

This time I'll fight

A Poem by Meagan
"

This is a slam poem about living with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I myself live with PTSD and so this poem comes straight from the heart.

"
How can I live
through the words that you said
through the knives that you've thrown
through the pain that you've caused

When I wake up in the morning
drenched head to toe in the dew of the new dawn
and I realize that this is not the dew of the new day
but that it is tears that have continuously streamed down my face throughout the night
in the black of the sun that is yet to rise
and the black is not that of a star yet to shine
but of the prison that encases me and tortures me with thoughts throughout the night
that you may be waiting around the next corner
hiding in the darkness that has become your life
readying your weapons that are fists of glass and tongues of thorns

I ready myself
this time I'll fight
