Just a nod

It just vanished like a dream

I really tried to listen to the lesson

But my eyes seemed to see the lovely world of dreams.

I really tried not to nod while the teacher was talking

But my head seemed to find my desk as comfortable as a pillow.

I could still hear my teacher's voice

But it seemed faraway.

I tried to understand the lesson

But my brain couldn't seem to function well.

Temptation was really hard to resist.

I supposed that one nod wouldn't seem wrong.

But as I tried to shut myself from the world,

My wonderful wish just vanished like a dream.

My heart was suddenly filled with dread as my teacher said

 "Get one fourth sheet of paper. We will be having a quiz."

I supposed that was really my fate

But seriously, just how hard my life can be?

Easy to wander away when a boring topic is being discussed. I like the story in the poem and the bad ending. Those surprise test can put us off balance. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

My teacher once told me to go and wash my face. Later when I became a lecturer I realized what a truly horrible reflection it is when a student falls asleep in my class.
