Black Cat

Black Cat

A Poem by Tim Lion

Black cat,

body-deep in the snow,

abstains from the cold

of winter,

and playfully

catches water drops

from a melting icecicle

like a worshipper

praying for peace

in the midst

of a full-scale

riot.

There's always time to stop and lick the icicle of peace... shoulda given him more muffin frosting ....

for the fact that you take the time... the notice... it's prayer enough.

ooo how it turns! I second SK - what a metaphor! nice - the moment of isolation in that riot - lapping at the falling drops! nice!

Hell of a metaphor. Wish I'd thought of it. You're kicking poetic a*s now! ;)

I like the reference of snow to riot.. it's a strange contrast to my feelings of winter. thank-you for this.

Sometimes, when the moon presses her naked chest to my window, and my wife is carving the value from trash scraps, I feel like I may never be able to outshine my finite timeline. And the worst part is.. more..
