please don't cry

please don't cry

A Poem by Nancy

Baby steps..he learns to walk again
Slurred speech...he learns to talk again
hands immobile...he learns to move his fingers again
I see you when you think I ain't looking
Un shed tears cloud your eyes
Angry at what you are now
 I wish I were a clown
Laughter once forgotten will be found
But I would be the daughter instead
And tell you what I see ahead
I see you as you were...nothing can replace that
Even the stroke you suffer won't erase that
I cry for the pains you feel
But I know that with love, you will heal
So wipe your weeping eyes dad
Cos I see through your facade
just trust and know we will triumph
over this horrible uninvited guest.

My dad suffered a stroke, times when I could just feel him teetering over the edge....cos he can't do the things he was capable of

This is sad, sorry for your dad, I hope the uninvited guest leaves. Very well written and quite emotional.

It is so hard to see loved ones growing older and getting sick. This is a beautiful piece for your dad, Nancy. Angi~

Yes really hard it is to see loved ones suffer...Thanks Angi for your kind words
This is beautiful, Nancy. I really like the personification of the stroke as an uninvited guest. The words are encouraging and I hope he regains most, if not all of his faculties again.
