Spiritual cocaine

Spiritual cocaine

A Poem by winter;lyra

The odds of being
Wronged by the one you love
Become too high
When you start feeling with your heart
Instead of with your brain

Flaws
Become meaningless
We become blinded
Naivety takes over
We start driving a car without
Headlights
All becomes dark
And your only light
Becomes this stranger
That you think you know
That you believe
Is the perfect person
The one that will save you
From this s**t hole

It's a wicked light
Doesn't only hinder your vision
Takes over all your senses
Cocaine
Spiritual cocaine
A cursed gift from God
That came along the gift of wisdom
Disguised...as peace

It's a weapon
A weapon we use everyday
And the power of this weapon
Relies on it's inability to kill
It eats you on the inside
Until the only thing that's left
Is your desire to die.

Winter, I feel like you were angry or hurt when writing this piece. Its flow is a little everywhere. I don't think its bad, but I feel like it is raw. I do like the metaphors you used and I feel that your thinking process is complex. Keep writing!

Winter, you switched gears too fast on me. Anybody who has been in relationships has been burnt, that is the painful result of trusting seemingly human perfection. You did a wonderful job portraying this in your words. Bashing God and Wisdom doesn't fit the flow of your poem. Seems like a rant. Richie B.
