promises, endings, and beginnings

promises, endings, and beginnings

A Poem by winter;lyra

In the middle of the night
A gentle breeze
Walks through
The valleys of my mind
Reminding me of a promise
I once made
To the child I once was

It pains me
That I'm forced to tell you
"I might not make it to winter"
I'm sorry
I'm sorry I disapointed you
I'm sorry I had to hurt you
I'm sorry I could not make your dreams come true
I'm sorry for all the promises
I might not be able to keep

I will not blame it on time
Because I never really grew up
And I will not blame it on them
Because they never really knew

I shall take full responsability
With my heavy dirty soul

I might not
Keep my promises
But I will not
Take you with me
To the land I seek

Oh Lady of darkness
If you must take me
Take me and reign me above
But spare this child
And make him a man
Give him purpose
Give him a wife
And give him a child
Give him a way to live a dream
Not a life
Because so I tried
And I ended up
Making a little boy cry
Every night a little smile went by
Reminding of a life
We could only dream of

I might not make it to winter
But my end shall be the beginning
Of a new and brighter future

The last two lines really hit me. Like wow. This entire poem, just wow. I could just relate to the feelings in this poem. I understand always feeling sorry towards others and feeling like a burden and not being good enough, ruining everything you try hard on, I just understand. The ending was also so beautiful, I would be lying if I didn't shed a tear by the end of this. Thank you for the poem, Winter.
