Lady Snow

Lady Snow

A Poem by Megangel1327
"

What happened to Snow White after the book ends?

"
Lady Snow did not live happily, nor her hero prince,
who rescued her from the ravages of bugs and mildew.
Every mirror had to hide behind black crepe,
hiding the eyes of her mother stalker.
No apple trees could stand sentry,
with their red fruit hiding their poison.

Her husband stood horrified as she spoke of those long dead,
those who needed the help of one who died and lived again.
His eyes flashed disgust, as she ordered baths of tea to be drawn,
to disguise the envious milk-tone of her skin.
He felt helpless, as she wandered daily, like one hypnotized,
into the forest, aching for something she lost there.
He shuddered at the ice of her fingertips,
the one that hinted that the grave still lingered upon her;
and he wondered if the sorcery of her mother coursed through her own veins.

One day, the forest claimed it's Lady Snow.
The prince said good riddance, married another;
reclaimed the fairy-tale happiness that was lost.
Lady Snow became the hunter's wife, the one who spared so long ago.
And though the ghosts lingered about, and she still refused all apples and mirrors,
and her skin tanned from work,
there she lived truly happily ever, firmly rooted in reality

Author's Note

Megangel1327
I honestly love this poem of mine. It was created a few years ago in a writing group on myspace, and it was actually inspired by a prompt using certain words.

(The words I was supposed to use:stalker, lady, bugs, hypnotized, mildew, forest, red, apple, ice, milk)
Honest opinions welcomed!
