Play it Sweet in Heaven

Play it Sweet in Heaven

A Poem by Meghan.E

The world ripped you from me

when I least expected.

I woke and you were not there

waiting for me.

Now I cannot be here,

you haunt every thought,

word, and action.

My house is no longer home.

The void you left

hits me like a brick,

and I cry harder with each

blow.

I cannot breathe with you

not here.

If I could see you just once more,

hear your sweet voice once again,

just once,

at least I would have you for

a moment longer than I did.

You protected me for so long

and now I am stuck here, alone.

I lie in bed each night,

sleeping if I am lucky.

When I am not;

I cry.

Was it painful?

Did you know what was happening,

for real?

Did you have a choice?

All my questions will be

unanswered.

I may never hold you

in my arms again

but know this,

I've loved you all along,

and I am not about to stop.
