Survive

Survive

A Poem by Mehar Anaokar

We're not saints, we're sinners
And we fight our way home
And the blood and tears we shed
Are not usually our own

We're not heroes, we're villains
And we plot, conspire and plan
And the thieves who steal our glory
Are the thieves who return without hands

We're not colleagues, we're rivals
Fighting our way to the top
You're sure to win the battle
Just make sure you don't get shot

We're not kind, we're cruel
And selfish at our core
Be wary of the knives
That have cut you once before

We're not gods, we're humans
And this is our cutthroat way of life
Only remember what I just told you
And you'll be sure to survive.
