Colours

Colours

A Poem by Mehar Anaokar

As red as the flame within you
As warm as the smile in your eyes
As strong as the fire of virtue
As blinding as disguise

As blue as the sky above
As cold as the falling rain
As cruel as unrequited love
As numbing as the pain

As black as the night when it's starless
As dark as the storms of truth
As harsh as the sound of silence
As crude as an unfinished tune

As green as the eyes of jealousy
As cunning as a snake
As calm as the light breeze
As poisonous as heartbreak

As white as the pearls from the ocean
As pure as maidenhood
As serene as the dewy sunrise
As true as a heart that is good

As yellow as the jovial sun
As cheerful as a smile
As peevish as unwelcome jaundice
As bright as a bride down the aisle

As colourful as life itself
Life, that has its ups and downs
Colours that can be lost in thought
And colours that can be found.
