Life's Maze

A funny poem about menopausal symptoms.

Menopause and insomnia
Seem to go hand in hand
Happens to most women
All throughout the land.

I am quite irritable
Early the next a.m.
I feel like a big white cow
When I used to be so slim.

Exercise should help, they say.
But I have no motivation
Just wanna find my comfy couch
And have a snack vacation!

My husband asks why I perspire
When I'm only sitting still
The hot flashes and night sweats
Begin of their own free will!

He has been oh so sweet
Through this whole darn thing
Living with limited affection
And certainly no ring-a-ding!

There are many crazy symptoms
When you become a "mature woman"
And forgetfulness, for me,
Is sometimes a real tough one.

My brain seems so fuzzy
I'm always in a daze
As my hormones skip and dance
Toward the end of this life's maze.

But I am getting through it
By trying my very best.
Now what was I saying again?
This mature woman needs to rest!

As a guy, it's hard to relate. I remember Archie Bunker once told his wife Edith, “If you're going through a change of life, get it over with right now!” I think it takes a little longer.

Guys do go through something similar. But it's more psychological than physical.

Robert, Did she say, "Stifle it, Archie!" Haha! Loved Archie Bunker. He always reminded me of my grandfather. And, believe me, my husband can relate to this poem when it comes to me because I drive him crazy! He says he's going through it right along with me! (Not exactly but, well, kind of!) Haha!

loved it,my wife is going through it and not joyfully and I think there is male manopause I'm getting more grumpy now into this phase of mine lol

Oh yes. As kids we always want to be older and as we get older we want to be kids again. If someone had told me, as a child, what I would be going through as a getting-up-there woman, I wouldn't have wanted to grow up so fast! haha!

Oh, to have a wife like that! Expert chooser of mates that I am, I picked one who's been in a constant state of pms and menopause for the past 35 years. I'm becoming pretty grumpy and forgetful, so I guess we're great fun for the kids to visit.

Haha! Well, I am going through this and some medication has helped somewhat. Just part of becoming an old lady, I guess!
