Half Hearted Lives

Half Hearted Lives

You have revealed much to me in your beautiful eye

The year-long tear you can not shed

That will not fall completely

The tear you keep to keep from feeling guilt

A pretense of sadness

You are as far away and untouchable as the stars reflected within

Gazed upon as beautiful, amazing, wonderful

Yet never attainable

We are all stardust and your creation has made me as I am

I see your secret heart, black, halved, forever broken

As cold and distant as the space you created for it

Never whole, never given completely

Like the galaxy portrayed ,you are spiraling

Further into a self-created abyss

Your own personal chaos of

Loneliness, emptiness, solitude, distance

Points of light that you see as hope

You follow those stars, searching, never finding

Leading you away from that which you seek

Love and happiness

Searching for what you had in your hands

The gift you were given, the gift of love

Which you throw away time and time again

While running from and out of fear

Unlike you, my tears still fall easily

For us, for you, for me

Your half heart is as mine

One with mine, since it is your creation

My heart is stardust, cold, black, dead

Never to be whole

Never to be given

Broken forever

We both live half lives
