Time After Time, You Still Hold That Knife

Time After Time, You Still Hold That Knife

A Poem by Mercedes Childers

I have told you time after time

I promised I’d never leave your side

You’re holding on by a single thread

Thinking you may be better off dead

Holding that knife within your hands

Pushing for that bittersweet end

And just as you attempt to make the break

The break makes you realize you’re making a mistake

But it’s too late, for it’s already done

Feeling regret pour out like the blood

That used to course within your veins

And is now spilling with the sanity that remains.

I have told you time after time

I promise you I’ll never leave your side

Yet you still think life is too much

So no matter what, that knife is still in your clutch

Mercedes Childers
A friend of mine has been having issues, so I wrote this for them; also an issue that I used to have, yet I boldly overcame.
