I love to Cook, I love to Bake

I love to Cook, I love to Bake

A Poem by Maria
"

This for the Concrete poetry Contest. First time I have ever tried this type of writing.

"
Cookies, pies, bread, pudding and oh,..
I love to cook. I love to bake. Anything that I can bake, I shall do.
Cookies, pies, cobblers and more, just let me know, what you want me to make,
And I will do my best and make it for you; not just with fresh ingredients, but more so,
with much Love.  You see, aside from the flour, and other dry ingredients used to bake
the most important element of all, shall always be Love.  Even in the midst of the kitchen,
itself, while preparing a soup, or maybe a stew; aside from the perfect blend of herbs,
you must make sure to do so, with Love.  For this is the most important ingredient you ,
see, for without Love, the food might still taste ok, but there will be an emptiness,
that will be, felt once the food is long gone.  So I do my best to make all my products,
with all the Love I can muster, in order to ensure that my customers, can truly enjoy,
a hearty meal, and or dessert, in which they can share with family and friends. So,
if you venture into cooking or baking, please make sure to always have Love as the,
main ingredient and you will see, how everyone smiles and laughs, while spreading,
that Love to others.  Whether its a casserole dish, or lasagna in the mix, never
forget the element of Love.  That is why, in all my recipes, I make sure to write,
Love as the main ingredient.  And most of my customers, come back for more.
Love helps heal that sadness that some might be feeling, and or just makes
someones day, much better. So no matter what you are going through,
rest assured that if you come by my house, I will feed you the best,
meal, that you have ever had, and leave with a heart full of
Love.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite seasons.
As during this time, pumpkins are harvested and apples
are brought to the market.  I select each one, with
much Love and care.  The scent of fresh cinnamon,
that comes from the oven, stirs memories
from early childhood; I would love to go
to any bakery during these times, and
just stand by the door to catch all
the smells, that would come upon
entering the door. And this I do, to
ensure, that all that come into my
own kitchen, can remember those,
sweet, happy times, in which, such
smells would bring about a joy and
peace, into ones soul. So, if you ever
decide, to bake or to cook, never forget that
the most important element of all, will always
be Love.  And if you choose another path, in
providing food, to those you love, its alright.
You may come to my place, and tell me, what type of meal you
would like, and I would be happy to cook, for your entire family.
Just give me a date, and time, and leave the rest to me. I will
do my best, to make this meal, the best.  Be it turkey with
gravy and or glazed, smoked ham, some yummy, mashed
potatoes will be in the mix. Green beans and bacon, with a
tad of wine, and maybe some sweet corn on the side. Butter
milk biscuits with a touch of garlic, and lots of honey, to go
on top.  A fruit salad or mix of greens, can be set aside,
for those that love their veggies and greens.  Fresh baked
bread, straight from the oven, dipped in Olive oil, and smoked
bacon.  Cranberries, and pumpkin juice for a drink, and onto
the desserts, we must move on. Where to begin, Luscious, crunchy
apple pie, with almonds and nuts. Peach Cobbler and Cherry pie,
on the side.  Carrot cake iced with yummy, cream cheese, and
of course, we cannot forget the famous Pumpkin Pie, along with
the rest. Almond- Nutella cookies plus Maple cookies too, and perhaps
some Pumpkin cookies as well.  Everything for everyone, and much to
taste. So come one, and come all, and lets have some fun.  Do not
worry, for it will be plenty, and leftovers you shall have, so stop
stressing over that.
Oh how I love to cook and to bake. And put smiles on
your faces. So please come on over, and let me
take care of the rest. For rest assured, that I will
always make my food and desserts, with
all the Love, that I can muster.

I so agree with you about the love ingredient. If I'm tired and I don't really want to cook, so I just slam something together...you can tell.

It almost reads like a menu for a reservation only, one big table, family style restaurant, complete with the cooking made with love.

Good job describing all that yummy food. I had to unzip my jeans just reading it...soooooo, thanks for that! Just kidding. I hope this places in the contest.

It is lovely to hear from someone who cooks from raw, and who enjoys cooking too. We live in a world of fast food and few people actually cook from scratch.. I bet people love your cooking, filled with so much love. Also, your love for cooking must do you the world of good, too.

Your joy of cooking is showing & shining! I very much enjoy the way you weave in the important ingredient: "LOVE!" This is a great way to show how cooking for someone is an act of love. I especially enjoyed your poem when you got to the Thanksgiving & Christmas part & beyond, becuz you put more scents & flavors into the descriptions, which really make this pop. I knew this would be a good one when I saw the title & your name on it. You have a way of expressing yourself with such genuine feeling.
