Broken Glass

Broken Glass

A Story by Merry Sumiko
"

A part of the novel I'm writing.

"

All the time, every day and every night, I dream about what it's like to live in a different world. Sleep seems to be the only thing that allows me to be in peace. No tears. No sadness. Just happiness. An endless hope of what we imagine the world to be. A fantasy of times we wish to become the memories of our lives. Everything turns out perfect and nothing is forbidden.

But glass breaks once you awaken. Reality strikes you and anxiety creeps into your body. That's what happens to me. That's what happens to the unfortunate ones. We linger on a land half alive, wishing and waiting and forever scarred by the major acts of our so called 'living'. Did we do something to deserve this? Probably. Yet no matter what, we'll still linger. We'll still float alongside the people who make us this way. Why? Because that's life, though you didn't hear it from me...
