Sleep: The Coward’s Way Out.

Impending headache, empty coffee mugs,
Tell me sleep is more valuable than gold,
But I have many obligations now,
So it goes, I suppose, with getting old.

“‘But sleep scheduling is killing me now,’
He said, ‘beginning to narrate his life,

How far can I push this delirium?’”
Depraved on deprivation, hating this life.

The world grows dim, and sounds sound far away,
Head slumped to the side, I try to stay awake.

“His rhymes get worse, they’re sounding really cheap,”

But I have books to read, before I sleep,
And books to read, before I (yawn) sleep.

Entertaining is a good word. I think the second verse is better written, not sure about your placement of the quotes though. For a 3 am rant, not so bad. Overall, I enjoyed the concept and it brought a smile.

This poem is quite witty, although it doesn't flow aswell as I'd like its still an entertaining poem

Thanks Scott. I'm thinking about editing this to rest on the ear a little softer.
Sleep is a beautiful thing

Yes, you need to sleep! It is the wise man's medicine. Funny.
