What Are You Moon?

What Are You Moon?

A Poem by Michael Iam Bone
"

This poem is about beauty and perspective.

"
I look up to the moon late at night, and I ask myself,

"What are you moon? What are you truly?"

I guess it's only natural, wanting to know more,

More of something that's there for you each night, and yet...

You've never known anything about it... Only that it's there, lighting your way...

Men may learn of her secrets, where she came from, her purpose...

But that will never change her mystery, her beauty. She is perfect.

Men may find she is not hollow, that she is not so round as they thought,

That her body is scarred with craters, and her skin is so very coarse...

But she is perfect.

Beauty is never found in one's body, not one's mind or even their very soul.

Beauty is a gift, a gift from those who have a gift of their own... and this gift is love.
