Spring

Spring

A Poem by Mick Burke
"

A poem composed on a sunny morning walk.

"

Sunshine in Springtime, it's hard not to feel good,

When taking a walk in a wakening wood.

There's bouquets of bluebells around the tree roots,

A promise of Summer, a profusion of shoots.

Soft, soothing birdsong and harsh jackdaw chatter,

Trekking through treetops the grey squirrels natter.

A soft scent of blossom is borne on the breeze,

As it whispers it's way through new leaves on the trees.

Daffodils nod as if saying “Hello”,

Birds are nest-building so look out below.

There's signals of Summer and what it will bring,

When taking a walk in the sunshine in Spring.
