That's Not Fair!

That's Not Fair!

A Poem by Mick Burke
"

There's always someone worse off. Get over it!

"

Some people complain,

They groan and they grumble,

They say “Life's a pain”,

They moan and they mumble,

"That's not fair!"

Perhaps they should look,

At a different life,

Read a different book,

And learn of real strife.

That's not fair!

Children are dying,

From nothing to eat,

While our kids are crying,

'Bout who gets the last sweet.

That's not fair!

I can get up each day,

And do as I please,

While some waste away,

From horrendous disease.

That's not fair!

We get in a lather,

About paying for water,

Meanwhile a father,

Abuses his daughter.

That's not fair!

In this world there's starvation,

Pain and Oppression,

Torture, privation,

Suicidal depression.

That's not fair!

So, if you feel down,

Things aren't going your way,

Take a good look around,

You've no right to say,

"That's not fair!"
