My cousin Jim

My cousin Jim

A Poem by MikeV

My cousin Jim
He taught me to not be afraid
He taught me to always punch in the face
He taught me to never back down
No matter the opponent, how big or how loud
He taught me a very special rule
Don't care what you do to them, cause they don't care what they do to you
I've never had any siblings
But I've always had my cousin Jim
One day though my telephone rings
It was bad news about him
They said he got blood clots that traveled
The doctors only thoughts? They were baffled
I drove from Wyoming to New Mexico
All the while, thinking"god, hell no"
Then I got a call, on my cell phone
Jim wasn't doin good at all, Jim was almost gone
I knew deep down inside
That once my dad got there, he'd be alright
My dad has a lot of faith
Though he doesn't go to church, he always prays
My dad then arrived
And quickly went to Jim's side
Said a prayer, and just like that, Jim was alive.
I finally got to the hospital
Looked at my dad, and he said" with god, all things are possible."
I got to my cousins side
I thanked god he was alive
Now, together we rap and smoke,
Laugh, and joke
So to the cousin I feel is a brother
I love you bro, like no other.
