To Solitude

To Solitude

A Poem by MindIsAnOcean

Why do days seem the longest
When we are alone?

Why do decisions seem so far out of reach?

Why does the heart seem to falter…
Grow weak with every beat.

When we are alone
Contemplation rules the waking thought.

Strands of memory wrap themselves around
Like the thinnest of wires tightly bound.
They keep us from our present
When we are alone

And so I wonder
Why do we reside in our hearts?
If they are so easily broken.

It is because they also keep us strong.
And in our weakest moment
We break free of the constraints

We grow our wings of hope
And let our hearts fly again

Be it to a place
Or a person
Or a feeling
Or simply…..

To Solitude.

As you indicate, M, solitude should be a fortress, not a prison.
Very fine work!
