Echoes of time

Echoes of time

A Poem by williams

My eyes filled with sorrow,
As the price of old age unfurled,
Lurking in shadows, a quiet thief,
Preying on the threads of this world.

He sat, wrinkled, weary, and frail,
Awaiting death, his only release,
My heart shattered with each fleeting glance,
In silence, I felt his soul’s unease.

Life, like a journey, with a beginning and end,
Potholes and bumps mark the way,
Yet in every struggle, in every sigh,
I sensed the pain he couldn’t convey.

Tears in the corners of his tired eyes,
Spoke volumes of battles fought long ago,
Though I couldn’t grasp the depths of his thoughts,
I knew in his heart, the sorrow would grow.

In the tapestry woven of joy and despair,
Each thread tells a story, both rich and complex,
And as I stand witness, my spirit aches,
For the beauty and darkness, love’s bittersweet text.
