Monsters In The Closet

Monsters In The Closet

A Poem by Bee
"

Lyrics for my band, but I liked them enough to post them here.

"
(pre-chorus)
Lying awake in your bed,
Lying to yourself in your head,
Legs made of lead
Won't let you forget what they said.
Hide under the sheets,
Because they're out on the streets
Here they come, ready or not
Here they come

(chorus)
Monsters in the closet,
Monsters under the bed,
Just remember what your mother said
'Cause ready or not here they come
Here they come
Here they come
(end chorus)
(pause between this part and the next or something like that idk)
Monsters all around you, keep still and pretend.
That's what your mother said.
They're not real,
It's just the way you feel.
Lying awake in your bed,
Lying to yourself in your head,
Tell yourself you're not terrified,
And realize you've lied.
(chorus x2)
Hush now, and go to sleep,
Your demons will watch over you while you fade.
Keep pretending if it keeps you sane,
But it's the monsters who sing your lullabies.
Sleep now, and pretend.
One day the sun will set and burn away your lies,
But for now you need only sleep tight until you rise.

Author's Note

Bee
Formatting's stupid because I don't know how to do it right, but I think the actual words are nice. Constructive criticism is welcome, but unsolicited hate is not. Thanks for reading!

About
Hello! I'm Bee, a 14 year old freshman who writes as a hobby. I write mostly poetry, but someday I hope to author a novel. As of late I've been writing lyrics for a band I'm in as well, but I probably.. more..

Writing
I will go on. I will go on.
