Look Up, Big Sister

Look Up, Big Sister

A Poem by MiriamMB
"

I find comfort in the universe, not in a spiritual sense. I like the cold, calculated, expanse of it and I like that it will keep expanding whether or not we have bad days. I draw strength from it.

"

Big sister

when you can’t stand this place anymore

when your faith in people have been demolished

and their faces melt and blend and merge

so that you don’t know those to trust and

those to ward off

Look up.

Draw your strength from the universe

There is no god stronger than the

Persistent beginning of a star

The cold indignation of a black hole

The inevitability of a planet’s gravitational pulls

The ubiquitousness of dark matter

Realize, when your back begins to break

Under the weight of life, living and surviving

That you are a child of all these wonders

That you are as much a part of this unyielding nothingness

As it is a part of you and that

Your strength comes from a limitless source.

I actually find this hillariously ironic it's a very good poem but I find it very amusing of how you seem to almost gain strength from not believing god and practically think we are dust in the wind simply witnessing the universe around I have an atheist friend who simply hates the fact that he is an athieist and because of that the only purpose of life is to breed but in yours it's beatiful the purpose is simply to stare in wonderment at the pure beauty of the universe and what it has to offer us I'm a Christian but religion to me is Irrelivant so I enjoyed this poem and thank you for my first review I just started here and I'm far from done
