Once upon a time, there lived a princess. The princess did not believe in love. One day a prince came along. The prince wanted the princess to believe in love. He brought her flowers and chocolates. But she still did not believe. He took her on magical dates. But she still did not believe. He looked after her when she was sick. But she still did not believe. He ran her errands for her. But she still did not believe. He even told her he wanted them to live happily ever after. But she still did not believe. The king announced his family were moving away. The prince told the princess how sad this made him. She simply told him she would leave with the king. So the princess left. But then something strange happened. The princess missed the prince terribly. So she came back. She went straight to the prince to tell him she loved him. When she got there, the prince said "I don't believe in love." "Why not?!" The princess asked, stunned. "Because I did everything I could to declare my heart to you and all you did was leave. You were right, there is no such thing as love."
This resonates with me, I've had this happen once. A woman poured her heart out to me and I didn't feel anything. When she stopped and we hung out less I missed it and her, realizing I really did love her I went to her and she moved on. Great read.

My original intention with this story was to make it child-friendly with a happy ending. Im not sure exactly what happened but it turned out like this and I decided to keep it.
Samya - this is the first write of yours i read and I couldnt get the sentiment of it (the effect others have on our thinking) out of my head. It fired off such a connection in my head with the song 'Just' and accompanying video by Radiohead. If you'll indulge me, you'll see what I mean (I think)
