Self - Scene 1 in working progress

A Stage Play by Miss Lillian
"

Initial idea for opening scene of 'Self'

"
Old: I slept. Just then I slept, was a good sleep. No thoughts. Just a heavy sleep. The stark light woke me though. Just as well, I have a lot to do.
Moves to sit on a stall centre stage.
Long silence.
Takes out a compass and stares at it for a while.
I was given this. I don't remember when. Don't remember much these days. I know I came here from the south though and before that somewhere north. Or maybe it was the other way round? I didn't like it.
Stares at the compass for a while again then puts it away.
I used to know a woman. Long ago it was. Old. Probably dead now. We'd talk to each other until we slept. Can't remember what we talked about though. Shame. She seemed to be losing her mind. It was fascinating.

To be continued ...
