Love Lost

Love Lost

A Story by Momentous
"

Small story/poem lightly describing a past relationship's emotions.

Your love rushes over me like wave over rock.

I stay grounded and strong, accepting your passion with every beat upon my back like a painter whisking his weathered brush upon a fresh canvas, open to unlimited beginnings.

Every stroke I stumble onto a newly painted path of twists and turns that I could never predict nor even begin to navigate, like an explorer cast on a foreign soil.

I want to discover the very peak of your mountains, and the depth of your oceans. Let the thinning oxygen asphyxiate my fears and the crushing pressure destroy my walls i’ve built up over so many failed attempts at what you made seem effortless.

Then it all stopped… You stopped.

Your love receded like low tide, no longer crashing around my soul.

You put down your brush after merely wetting the canvas of our story.

What seemed to be a lifetime of new beginnings, had ended.

You woke up one day as if we were only acquaintances, while I found myself addicted to the voyage I’d embarked on some time ago.

I feel asphyxiated by your absence.

Crushed by your cruelty.

My fears grow stronger…

My walls build higher…

My mind consumes me.

My first attempt at posting something I've written. Feel free to let me know of whatever grammar mistakes I need to fix because I'm here to get better.
Also wasn't too sure on whether I should've post this as a poem or short story. Oh well.
