Shadowed Forests of the Past

Shadowed Forests of the Past

A Poem by MomzillaNC
"

A place I left behind when "Hope was born anew… "

"

Bad old, dark places…

Places where my life no longer dwells…

Looking back upon the past…

That wasting, dark, drear past…

Come words from a long ago

Where my soul no longer cowers.

A place of wrenching loneliness

always on the edge of light,

waiting to drag me back…

back into it's embrace….

I just kept trying to hold on,

trying to hold out for love;

But, every day that passed without it,

Loneliness lurked to overwhelm.

And, darker still, monsters lurked…

Monsters lurked at every… every turn…

Soul shattering dramas spun out

in relentless perversions of hope.

Until that pivotal moment…

that time when change began…

Change began and Hope was born…

Hope born anew within my breast.

In that Hope, on angel’s breath…

An angel-friend led me forward.

She led me through the dark

and back to light and Faith.

I learned the true Me…

the truest Me I was meant to be

And learning Me, I learned Love.

Learning Love, I learned to love.

It's a truly blessed state…

In brilliant shining sunlight…

A place of laughter and love and joy…

Such have I found for myself…

After the long, dark road through tortured,

shadowed forests of the past.

Thank you so much
I've been there. I've written about it. I changed and found love too. Beautiful and dark, but still refreshing. I love it.

Me too, dude!
We do have to encounter the dark to truly appreciate what the light has to offer don't we. What an amazing and enjoyable read. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

You are welcome.
What a beautiful way to lead a soul from the darkness of life. This way very mysterious and entrancing. As the struggle was spoken of there was still a sense of a tale unfolding. I could picture a spirit leading a lost individual through the danger to safety. Thank you for sharing.

Spiritual enlightenment, the voice of deliverance, not dwelling in the past that haunts....well said. Love that you used 'drear' instead of dreary....it's so quaint.

A very hopeful and inspirational poem. Well written. One thing, did you mean to leave the "y" off dreary?

A truly inspiring piece of writing. If we can just hold on...our Angel will come along.
An impressive poem indeed.

I taste rough hands and mean-full words, soul-breaking spites and life's hurtful edges. And someone took the time to reach beyond themself and shared the tears til the smile came back in your eyes.

A thoughtful work to listen to.
