Past Life

Past Life

A Poem by Monet Fielding

Past Life

  In a past life
 I was a tree shaker
 An earth mover
 An ocean drinker
 A bead on the bodice
 of the last queen
 I chewed fire
 Swam in lilies
 Rode horses into twilight
 I could smell your movement
And knew you were on my path
In your absence
My strength molded mountains
My loneliness created caverns
I slept beneath the sea
And punched holes in the sky
Creating the stars
Guiding you back to me
