Stapled

Stapled

A Poem by Just A Passion For Writing

My heart was ripped out of my chest/ my veins stretched and molded into your final masterpiece/ arteries taken and tied into pretty bows/ presents I didn't consent to/ my heart was thrown into the shredder/ sliced into pieces/ you never cared what happened afterward/ you no longer had anything to play with/ feebly I took the remains/ the puzzle they left laid upon my chest/ I stapled together what I thought to be correct/ thump thump/ mechanically it worked but the feeling was off/ attempt two/ this time I ripped my own heart out my own heart out/ I splayed out the pieces for all to see/ staples fell to the floor/ my heart shoved back into the cavity it belonged to/ I knew it was working again/ an artist never leaves their masterpiece unfinished/ so I took you back
