At the Old Seaside Hotel

At the Old Seaside Hotel

A Poem by Avery Colt

Out on the promenade,

Of an old seaside hotel,

A row of white haired ladies,

Look vacantly out to sea,

Over a jumble of rocks,

Over the seething sea,

On a summer Sunday after noon,

Vacantly out to sea,

Out on the promenade,

With nary a thought in mind,

Sixteen gray haired ladies,

Totally at sea.

An interesting piece of poetry. It seems to simply put to words a vision of what the poet might have seen. Perhaps the ladies were seaguls or something. "afternoon" is one word, not two. Other than that, it was writen very well. Yet, I kinda felt like it was the opening scene to something more...
