Those Jamaican Nurses

Those Jamaican Nurses

A Poem by Avery Colt

Old men love girls in the nursing home.

Looking with flinty and alert eyes at the Beautiful Jamaican nurses

Who take such good care of them.

My God, Brian said, if I had only known earlier, I’d be living down in Jamaica now.

Girls love old men in the nursing home,

To cheer them up and make their pulses race,

Do you like me? Ethel said to Brian.  Do you Love me?

By God I would, Brian said, to peals of laughter, Somewhat sad on his part and

Almost willing on hers.
