"That Someday"

"That Someday"

A Poem by MourikisN
"

Mistakes I have made in the past due to laziness effect me now. I have realized what I was missing out on, by not trying. More specifically through high-school.

“That Someday”

I told myself this,

That someday I will be there.

I drove myself amiss,

Into the tendrils of despair.

From the dawn of my education

I coasted along with ease.

I admit with frustration,

A gift I failed to seize.

This gift I’ve had forever,

I never seemed to understand.

This gift could reveal the answer,

It could grant me an upper hand.

I could not fail,

Even when I tried.

This gift to my avail,

Was my one true guide.

I sold it short,

To my excuses and fabrications.

I crafted reasons to resort

To laziness and stagnation.

I missed a chance,

To truly prove my self-worth.

At second glance,

It’s been there since birth.

From the sadness, I have crafted.

My destiny to be free;

Like a fool, I have acted,

By way of the truth, it will be.

But, fallen I am not,

I will rise to the occasion.

I will not allow myself to rot,

On one miscalculation.

For my future is mine,

For no one else to decide;

If the stars fail to align,

The gods can step aside.

Hellbent on my success,

Hellbent on my name.

There is no space for indolence,

It is time to stake my claim.

So if there is no door open,

And no windows around the back,

I’m going through the wall

No barriers can hold me back.

No one will hold me down,

Nothing will stand in my way.

I have a dream to rundown,

That “someday”, is today.
