I'm not Blind

I'm not Blind

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

I woke up this morning
And i was feeling kind of old
Thinking about the dreams i had lost
And some that i had sold
Can't help but wonder if this was
Part of some grand design
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Oh its just getting colder in this house
And the road's been much too long
I see her face in every crowd
I hear her name in every song
I'm starting to feel
Just a little left behind
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

She ain't got room in her life
for the likes of me
I know that nothing in life
Is given away for free
I can always tell when shes got
Someone else on her mind
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Each day it's getting harder for me
To open up my eyes
I just keep getting the same results
After so many ties
Maybe I'm just afraid
Of what i might find
I might be a fool for love
But I'm not blind

Oh how the days a getting shorter
And its getting hard for me to breathe
I just hope that my prayers are heard
before its time for me to leave
I'm sinking faster now
And I'm getting closer to the line
I pray to the Lord I'll find love
Just one more time

Once being in love before I hope you do find it one more time. What an amazing feeling and emotion love is and everyone should be in it. The world would be a better place and maybe everyone would write poetry. Another fine write from you. Thanks for the read request. Sorry for the time it took but life just grab a hold of me and I had to do a few other things.

This is very touching and something we all can surely identify with, at some time in our lives. I love the flow, here. The rhyming is perfect. I agree with Chaos, definitely song worthy.

The only change I would make is in the last stanza. "Breath" would work better if it was "breathe". I think you might have meant for it to be so, as breathe would rhyme with leave . . . maybe just a typo?

Other than that, it is perfect. Your thoughts and feelings are captured magnificently within this piece.

Thank you for sharing.
