Billy Roy takes a bath

Billy Roy takes a bath

A Poem by Ron Murray

           Billy Roy takes a bath

Created by Ronald Murray

Billy Roy likes baths and yells yippie I ain’t skeered !

He likes baths so much, his friends think that he is a little weird,

While others are saying “something’s not right with that boy,

he must be mixed up in his head

for that is the reason he

sleeps

in

a

blue bath tub bed!

That mixed up Billy Roy!

Billy won’t listen when all of them jeer

he just takes a bath with his friends,

because with friends in a tub

you

have

nothing

to

fear.

When it is night and time to turn in,

He chooses not his soft fluffy bed already made for him,

But a hard porcelain blue bathtub that makes him grin!

His blankets for covers are big heart shaped bath towels,

All colored many shades of red,

Some the color of a barn or maybe his uncle's tool shed.

He likes to take baths, and he invites all his friends,

Because there is plenty of room

So he tells them all to "climb on in,"

and someone please, grab that straw  broom!

In goes the giraffe, a goat, several little fishes that have a pearl in their fin.

Then old toy chickens from Grandpa, that Grandpa made, and made out of tin.

There are twenty seven blue striped green gators,

Along with five plastic potatoes or “spuds”

but Billy Roy only calls these friends what these friends should be called

that is  “tators” which don’t make any suds.

Next a pair of rainbow snakes,

And a cross eyed pink fish,

Underneath a weird green thing,

hiding in a black chipped soap dish.

Three yellow boxes of fake snow flakes

Along with a bell off his bike,

The one with a bent

green wheel that

caused

it

to

shake.

In went a black and white teddy bear

Billy Roy has had for a year,

it was sitting next to a red headed doll

That

cries

big

blue

tears.

He put in his lucky baseball

and a cracked wooden bat,

A knotted ball of  string

along with

a little more

of

       “This”

and

“a little more

of

“That!”

He threw in a lampshade,

a seven wheeled Fire truck,

a  policemans badge

along with the orange feathered  hat that makes you say YUK!

An old beat-up sand colored spotted army tank,

  several old wooden alphabet blocks,

so worn

“X”

and

“L”

were

forever

blank!

Then a strange one that chased a rat,

was, a,

broken tailed

orange

and

brown

fat

Cat!

Billy Roy needed these things in his youthful years

to calm a little boy and  his nighttime fears.

After inviting all his friends in, they filled that old bath tub right to the brim,

So much so

that

Billy Roy

 could

not

climb

in!
