Fade

Fade

A Poem by Jason
"

it was what it was...

"

Look at the pain in my eyes if you can.
I bet you didn’t know that I’m a master of disguise.
Trying to run from reality, but hitting fates wall
Now I’m at a crawl, sore physically and mentally
Like after a bar room brawl.
So high with intermediate wishing, with so far to fall.
Can you take my phone and give my happiness a call,
Cause it’s been gone for so long.
All past attempts at living life right turn out wrong.
God please ring that gong to get me off stage.
My greatest blessing are frustration and rage.
So in my book of life I turn the page.
Such a sad story , my eyes began to water,
And my goal to finish the book began to fade.

Good write. Great moments. I wanted more anguish though. Your wordplay is undeniable! Your one-liners are dope and I can tell are hip hop influenced. Black Thought would be too obvious(with you being from Philly!) but when I read "All past attempts at living life right turned out wrong", that's where I go....lol

Good write, and I see where you're going with this piece.....
