Mercy Is God's Job Not Mine

Mercy Is God's Job Not Mine

A Poem by Mr Whiskers

Pulling at the seams
Burgeoning with hope
No one ever seems
to be really tryin to cope
Why should burden mean descent?
Why earth shifts, relents
It is only me
Only ever me
Sacrifice is nothing
when that's exactly what you've given.

Leave me to cope
Stop trashing my hope
All I ever asked of you
Was love
Not control me
To hold me
so very closely
Yet here I am, pitiless and friendless
drowning in your quicksand.
Now I am stronger
More relentless more stubborn
Merciless in my way
Which you will hardly see

A nice take on depression here and how it feels to be within it without anyone to understand. Especially like the line: 'No one ever seems to be really tryin to cope.' Was the 'tryin' deliberate or a typo? Good either way. I think I know what that is supposed to mean.
