Smile In My Eyes

Smile In My Eyes

A Poem by Mr Whiskers

Your smiles are sugar-coated lies-

How dare you look me in the eye?

I know you better than that

You know I do.

You know I'm not perfect

But I wouldn't lie to you.

I see you stumble, sometimes fall

I've already been through it all

I help you back to your feet

And smile a lie so sweet

You're not the only one to hide or lie

Except my mask also covers my eyes

You think you know but you don't

Think you might understand, but you won't

I thought you might care

But you don't know how.

Didn't mean to scare-

Get out of my way now.

Throw me your candy grin

Assume you know my all within

You stupid people, Go!

--And don't assume you know

Your smiles are sugar-coated lies,

But you missed the smile in my eyes.

Mr Whiskers
Of course there are direct and blatant contradictions within this piece...What can I say. I'm a liar.
