Heavier night than you knew

Heavier night than you knew

A Poem by Mr Whiskers

Darkness hangs with folded wings
Only thinking of past pained things
No wind to ruffle my soft hair
With nothing in my pocket but a stolen prayer
Ice in my lungs & I breathe deep
No reasons tonight to get much sleep
Oddly I look and can only see
The things that no longer look to me

I like the rhythm and the consistent flow of words.
Very thought provoking, especially the end line which has left me baffled.
"...and can only see/The things that no longer look to me". Baffled in a good way, that is, whether or not it was your intention.
Great work. Write on!
