Oh Father

Oh Father

A Poem by The Elusive Mr Dunne

Oh Father

"Oh Father"

(Verse One)

He was given life by Tina Sapsford, and then taken away by Martin Dunne/
As Martin Dunne was a dirty wife beater, who beat up the mother to his son
So Tina then turned to the drink, but she went from a drinker to a drunk/
Which was all that Martin Dunne ever needed, to get full custody of his son
He then took away his son from his mother, yet not for the reason he loved him/
He did it because he didn't love her, and wanted to leave her suffering
Now with no mother to ever mother him, Martin Dunne had full control/
Then slowly but surely, he started to destroy that boys soul
He tried to swallow him whole, using the art of mental abuse/
Never hugged him, leaving him cold, so cold and lonely is how he grew
Whilst the other two kids, that he had with his new wife/
Their lives were filled with sunshine, their lives were kind of nice
Swimming with dolphins in Florida, bathing on beaches in Spain/
Whilst he was sent to his nan's, with a suitcase filled with pain
No explanation for this game, though it was a cruel game to play/
Especially when all he ever did, was hope that he'd love him one day...

(Hook)

Oh Father, it was not I who sinned/
Oh Father, do I get under your skin?
Oh Father, do you need reminding/
With my pens help, you or the devil won't win. (x2)

(Verse Two)

Now without a father to ever father him, he looked for role models in rap/
Which angered his father further, as he hated anybody that was black
So he took away his t-shirts & posters, his baggy jeans & sock hat/
Confiscating his rap magazines, & every tape be it hip-hop or rap
Stopping him having a mic to record, so he couldn't take his dreams far/
Yet bought his daughter a piano, and bought his youngest son a guitar
Then when his daughter started to listen to rap, he even bought her the CD's/
Many of which were the exact same albums, that he had taken away from he
He had him believing he wasn't worthy, of any kind of affection or love/
The evil treatment used to hurt him, was clearly revenge against his mum
Which he then vented on his own son, for some twisted unknown reason/
Yet nothing was said by his new mum, as it didn't affect Samantha or Steven
Turning a blind eye to his beatings, at the hands of this abuser/
Who'd dictate every move ever made, a modern day Nazi ruler
And Julia was just as guilty, for allowing all of this abuse to take place/
In a small village named West Tilbury, under roof number 8...

(Hook)

Oh Father, it was not I who sinned/
Oh Father, do I get under your skin?
Oh Father, do you need reminding/
With my pens help, you or the devil won't win. (x2)

(Verse Three)

When he got older, he got a girl pregnant, who just happened to be mixed race/
But his daddy felt resentment, being she was half black and had braids
So when their pretty baby graced this earth, they both welcomed their daughter/
Martin Dunne felt he had to disown her, due to the tone of her skin colour
Preventing the whole family from seeing her, because his persona was racist/
Which put a strain on their relationship, and pretty soon became hatred
Eventually ending with their break up, which then leads to him not seeing/
The little girl he loves so much, his one & only reason for breathing
& now the babymother keeps on keeping him, from seeing his child/
So together, both her & his daddy, they had taken away his smile
What they had both did to him was vile, now it was just him & his thoughts/
With no mental or moral support, or help to take the babymother to court
It was like he was being taught a cruel lesson, in the most harshest of ways/
Whilst being punished for loving his baby, who was just born a different race
And now everyday was filled with pain, as he cried constant tears onto his pad/
Reminiscing on the life he used to have, with that little girl calling him dad...

(Hook)

Oh Father, it was not I who sinned/
Oh Father, do I get under your skin?
Oh Father, do you need reminding/
With my pens help, you or the devil won't win. (x2)

(Verse Four)

Feeling sad everyday with no baby to father, he pens his feelings on paper/
Writing to his little girl, telling the world, about his father's shameful behaviour
Starting a Myspace blog so to name & shame, penning a mixture of poetry & rap/
Yet being he made a mock of his father's name, he soon got in trouble for that
Police them grabbed him threw him in the car, took him station hit him with a charge/
Lyrical harassment, took it real far, stood in front of a judge, put behind bars
Chelmsford prison, held on remand, three and a half weeks for writing bars/
Words are weapons that tear apart, looking 7-11 for three different charge
Slander & harassment, threats to kill, but weren't no threats, so the threats weren't real/
They dropped the slander & the threats to kill, but not the harassment, that was sealed
They banned his poetry, they banned his rap, a five year ban in fact/
Yet five years later & a lot more paper, Mr Rap Ban's back (hey!)
With a lot more poetry & a lot to say, probably back to the court & locked away/
But that's the risk he's got to take, cause it's either this or box his face
Then hopefully in a box he stays, rotting in a grave where his dog can p*ss/
Like a shot to the face or a dose of aids, he won't come back from this.
