My walls

My walls

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

My walls are strong
My walls are thick
They hold the world at bay
They hide my eyes and hold my heart
They keep the words I say
It's getting cold
I'm growing old
What color was the sky?
I might be wrong
It's been so long
I've built my walls too high

Yes I can see the comparison in this write. Sad but this is often very true. My walls are held by the wars of my heart. Now its so damaged I don't think repair is an option. Good write!

A powerful truth you tell that I'm sure many can relate to. Some people happen to build their walls up too high due to past disappointments they've experienced, yet they'd feel more free if they decided to let them down (even the slightest bit) and allow real life to take hold. It's a good lesson for people to learn that it's okay to let your walls down & experience life from a different level.
