Candy Addicts

Candy Addicts

A Poem by Scirrocco

Introducing my self induced addiction

Tighten the tourniquet then take the syringe and stab me

Rush life through a main artery

I'm high now and nothing can bother me

Veins hollow

Glassy eyed staring at the bottom of a bottle

I've more than filled my tumbler with spirits

So I could drink away my sorrows

Another dose another hit

Chillin with Harry Jones for just one more fix

Surrounded by sleepwalkers, junkies and tricks

I use to love Lucy because the b***h use to boost me

She was sweet with her combination of sugar cubes and liquid LSD

Heightened imagination and aquatic revelations

Euphoric raindrop effects and MDMA sensations

Candy flippin for stratosphere visions

Now I'm a moon man on a mission

Numb when I'm opiate driven

F****n addictions

The only thing I can even think to suggest for this is to somehow be able to hear you read it out loud. Your voice throughout was so strong that I could almost hear you, but to really hear you read this with the driving pulse of your words and the feelings you create here...that would be fantastic.

You really create the sensation of what it is to be an addict. It's not a comfortable place.

Love this line -

"I use to love Lucy because the b***h use to boost me"

Excellent write...congratulations to you too

Amazing work. Your pacing and rhythm is fantastic. I almost feel like you don't need the "f****n addicttions" at the conclusion.

The flow of this was amazing and it suited the subject so well. This was different from a lot of other pieces on addiction, it was more bare, showing the true bones of what it's like. As always a great write from you!

Hmm very different from all the addiction pieces I have ever read. Brilliantly done though, filled with bitter sweet images, describing so perfectly the hollowness which goes with such a life, even though at that stage it may not seem like that.

I confess I have never known drug addiction or met anyone that has.. call me naive or insulated in my corner of the world, but it's not to say I haven't seen the effects of drugs.. however this piece shows me what I think might be some insight into the drug addicts feelings and thoughts. I was intrigued yet saddened.. I could almost hear the desperate anger. Well written.

A very fast ride through the high of an addict. The total temporary escape. I agree with a line break at I use to love Lucy. A different thoguth pattern comes in at that point.
