The Rib of Him

The Rib of Him

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The Rib of Him

And I long for him,

to be adjacent to the rib of him

just below the heart of him…

to feel the madness of the world dissipate within
the circumference of his arms,

to hear the symmetry of his breathing with mine

                        so sweetly with mine,

as the orchestration of our hearts beat

like the hoofs of a thousand steeds

pulsing,

converging,

never- ending.

Glides down the lines with this verse...the intensity building ever so...and takes you in the moment for the reader...liked the picture also goes with the theme of this design --- with the way you add the artistic presentation...I do suggest in the last line:

pulsing,
converging,
never ending.

---

pulsing,
converging,
never-ending.

---

give the last word a place all by itself...very minor...but appealing...with the hyphen...good day...

Thank you Lynn...you've made my day!
"The circumference of his arms" that is a line you have used before and I just adore it. In those arms, there is warmth, there is love, there is a safe haven. Sensual yet elegant. Wonderful, Kelly. Lydi**

You flatter me when you remember such lines...thank you so much, Lydi!
There are so many layers here Kelly. We could come to this one in many different moods and be sated. Feeling particularly love-lorn I chose to focus on these words -
"to feel the madness of the world dissipate within
the circumference of his arms..." - sublime phrasing - I got the feeling of security, comfort, love and belonging from these. Superior writing my friend. Thank you for sharing.

i am a fan! :)
The title was enough to lure me to read it and the poem does not disappoint..
I don't know why but it reminds me of Keats a lot... the way he wrote about passion...a very passionate read. And I do love how it flows into becoming one.. great write

Kelly, I have to say when I first read the title that I thought of Adam and Eve (her coming from one of Adam's ribs) but you chose to highlight the rib for its adjacency to the heart, his mythical font of all love. The imagery is quite good, very descriptive...the piece flows so evenly and warmly that it made me let go an audible sigh. GREAT imagery in 'the hoofs of a thousand steeds.' Just a warm and beautiful write that will warm your readers' hearts (like mine). take care...dan
