BookendsA Poem by Kelly Scheppers...first writing of a new year!Bookends
We
are immortal like
the sea, like
the tide that
rushes in then
out again
Its
silence speaks to
my amaretto soul, sequestering
the words to
a Simon & Garfunkel tune
about
a time of innocence, a
time of confidences.
I’ve
preserved your memories, sepia
tones of lost afternoons.
They’re
all that’s left you. © 2018 Kelly ScheppersAuthor's Note
