The Sun

The Sun

A Poem by Kate

The Sun is like a flake
In the sky
Like a yellow, round snake
Wrapping around
Ultraviolet light
The Sun is like the face
Of an infuriated faith
Like the serpent's tongue
Split into twins of fight
Hissing slashes
Into the dried out ground
The Sun is the witness
Of hatred, unkind
Of vices of people
Like fleas flooding our hearts
